As the game keeps going on and on, The Sims 4 releases more clothes, makeup, and hairstyles. While it’s great to have more options available to use to create the perfect Sim, it can easily make Create-A-Sim bogged down with too many items.

Because The Sims have always been about being who you want to be.

While there’s no way to do this in the base game, you are able to add additional columns in CAS using mods. This gives you much more space to work with when creating your Sims and is a huge relief for anyone who uses custom content or even owns as many expansions as possible. Here's what you need to know.

In order to get more columns in CAS, you’ll need to download the mod from Weerbesu. This mod will allow you to add up to three more columns in your CAS interface, depending on your preference.

There is sadly no way to get more columns while in CAS mode than by downloading mods. If you're looking to do it without mods, you're out of luck.

Simply pick how many total columns you want in your CAS interface, between three, four, or five total columns. Download the corresponding package file and place that file directly into your Mods folder. You can find this under Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4 > Mods.

As mentioned above, you can have up to three additional columns added to your game. For two additional columns, download the file labeled four columns, and for only one additional column, download the file labeled three columns.

Make sure to only download one of the files from the list. If you download all of them, the files will conflict with each other and it will break the mod entirely.

Luckily this mod doesn’t require any further adjusting. Once the mod is in your Mods folder, simply open up the game either start a new save file or go to an existing one and choose to Create a new family. You’ll be taken to CAS, where the additional columns will appear automatically.

The columns let you see far more items without having to endlessly scroll down forever. For players with a majority of the expansions, or lots of custom content, this mod is a lifesaver. It’s easy to get frustrated by having too many items to look at and not enough space to see them, but this mod solves the issue.

If you find you need more or fewer columns, simply remove the package file from your Mods folder, and replace it with the amount of total columns you need.

It’s completely up to personal preference how many you want, but if you have more CAS items, you’ll likely benefit more from having more columns to see everything.

How To Update More Columns In CAS

Like many other mods that are available for the game, More Columns in CAS requires updating to keep the mod functional.

This is because updates that EA releases for the game often break several mods, and More Columns in CAS can be one of them. Broken mods can cause all sorts of issues, so it's important to keep it updated.

To update the mod to keep it working, all you need to do is go back to Weerbesu’s page and replace the file in your Mods folder with the updated mod file. Weerbesu updates the mod regularly, and the most recent file is available on their Patreon page.

Downloading the updated file is the typical fix for all Sims 4 mods. If an updated file is not released yet, you will need to be patient.

If you don’t update the mod file, it’s possible that the mod itself will work fine. However, there’s a chance other parts of the interface will be broken. This can include whiting out buttons, missing icons, or more.

More Columns in CAS is one of the most popular mods in the community, for good reason. This mod gives you a much smoother experience when you’re creating Sims in your game. It’s a great starter mod, as well, if you’re still new to the modding community.
