The world’s ‘most famous’ dessert is coming to the UK (2024)

Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, Cher, Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly, Selena Gomez, and Blake Lively are just a few of the celebrities that have been known to order a Frrrozen Hot Chocolate from Serendipity3 in New York.

The decadent dessert is said to be so tasty that Jackie Kennedy famously once asked for the recipe so she could serve the pudding at the White House… only she didn’t manage to get her hands on it.

You might also recall seeing Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack enjoying one each in the 2001 rom-com, Serendipity.

The iconic treat, which is served in a fish bowl-like goblet, is made using a secret blend of 14 cocoas and is topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. It comes with two brightly coloured straws and two spoons for sharing.

It’s proven so popular over the years that people have queued around the block for a chance to taste it, and some have even travelled across the world to try it.

But for any Brits that have been longing to give it a go, you won’t have to wait much longer – and you certainly won’t have to hop on a plane. That’s because the iconic Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is finally coming to the UK, and you’ll be able to order one at Sette by Scarpetta in London.

Not only that, but you’ll be able to order it in two different flavours – the regular Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and a S’mores version, with Serendipity3 chocolate, s’mores, homemade graham crackers, and chocolate.

Each dessert will set you back £18, which is perhaps why many opt to share one with a friend. But we won’t judge anyone who wants to keep it all for themselves.

And in case you were wondering if it’s really that good, you need only look at posts about the dessert on social media to get your answer.

On X (formerly Twitter), @alyssakozluk said: ‘Frrrozen hot chocolate is hands down the best thing you can order from any little coffee shop.’ While @MsDesberg said: ‘Waited my whole life for Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and it was worrrth it!’

Meanwhile a recent five star Google review from Al Irwin says: ‘The Frrrozen hot chocolate… it is what everyone says. Gigantic and delicious!!’

Customers at Sette will be able to order the dessert as part of the menu, alongside a selection of New York and Italian-inspired dishes.

But you’ll have to be quick if you want to try it, as it’s only going to be around for six weeks. So run, don’t walk, folks!

Founder and president of LDV Hospitality, John Meadow, said: ‘We are thrilled to bring the magic of Serendipity3 to Sette and ensure our London diners don’t miss out.

This comes after another world-famous sweet treat made its way to the UK recently, as the viral crookie, a croissant and cookie hybrid, landed in London.

The trend appears to have originated at Maison Louvard, a boulangerie on Rue de Châteaudun, where the bakery is serving crookies up daily.

The owners are renowned for their croissant (voted the seventh best inFrancein 2022) and their cookies, so they decided to combine the two – and they were clearly on to a winner.

A version of the crookie first launched at the cafe in October 2022, but it’s only in the last few months that the pastry has really taken off and become a must-try.

Videos online show people buying and trying the sweet treat, which fans have hailed as ‘divine’, ‘a masterpiece’, ‘epic’ and rated 10/10.

People have been so desperate to try the sweet treat that similar versions have been popping up all over the place in bakeries in Dubai, New York, and Amsterdam – and the crookie has finally arrived in London.

Philippe Conticini, the mastermind behind the viral round croissants and the capital’s giant croissant, has just launched his own version of the crookie at his bakery in South Kensington. The French pastry chef also has locations in Camden and Islington.

The croissant cookie hybrid is a weekend special and costs £5.95. The pastry is filled with cookie dough, crushed hazelnuts and lots of chocolate chips.

Several other top London bakeries have also hopped on the craze, with Chestnut Bakery (Belgravia and Covent Garden) and The Apple Blue in Balham also launching their own cookie croissants.
